God's Exquisite Garden

THE VIRTUOUS WOMAN - PART 2

Print version

Two of the definitions the dictionary gives of the word virtue are moral excellence; or a goodness. This conscientious woman of virtue displays such a collection of wondrous qualities that women everywhere should try to achieve them. Her pattern is one that ought to be seen in our homes. What a tremendous effect that would have!

What a great list of the attributes which make a worthy woman. This last portion has been provided in appreciation and adoration of her.

"Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. " . Proverbs 31:28 KJV

This remarkable woman knows that if a child is trained in the way he should go, when he is old, he will not depart from it. Solomon tells us this in Proverbs 22:6. Her children realize the diligence their mother had in training them. Many mothers might wonder at times whether their efforts at home are noticed. Her children sing her praises! Unfortunately and so often, this praise is given to good Christian women at their funerals. She is being paid tribute by her family and friends who have seen and know of her many works. She is fortunate to have her praises being said while she was alive. Her family has come together to honor her for her many contributions. Sometimes, people have not done well during their lifetime, but we see how this virtuous woman has done well.

"Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all." . Proverbs 31:29

We are told that many daughters have done well, but the appreciation for her many works causes her to surpass them. This is praise made from her husband. Her husband is exhilarated with her demeanor, and so he should be. What a blessing he has in her!

"Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. " . Proverbs 31:30

Favor is deceitful - a womans' charm, her way of acting or behavior may not always be what it seems.
Beauty is vain – the beauty of an individual's countenance is evident. This form of beauty is altered by advancing age. It is impaired or destroyed by death and by sickness. An inner beauty is a lasting charm.

But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised - Solomon focuses upon this woman 's fear of the Lord in contrast to someone who does not, but she has the qualities this world views as important. She has lived righteously in this life . A woman who fears the Lord has true religion, and her grace cleanses and perfects all of her character and emotions. The praise she receives is an enduring grace, an endless beauty.

"Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates." . Proverbs 31:31

Give her of the fruit of her hands- She is seen enjoying the outcome of her work within the home. She could possibly be spending time with her children and her grandchildren.
Let her works praise her - May her accomplishments be spoken of as a memorial to her.

What an absolutely marvelous example she is to all women! This shining example of such an admirable woman needs to radiate everywhere. Her wonderful example should be made manifest to all young ladies so they can try to achieve her attributes.
