Patsy's doll, dress by Vera

Jay retired when he was 80. Now he does nothing. I hope I can keep going. I at least am trying. I do my art work, and when I don’t feel up to that, I redo dolls. Willie frequents the flea markets and keeps me supplied with old dolls. I redo their hair and make clothes for them.

My most enjoyable hobby is my painting. In 1963 I took up oil painting and also pastels. Started on my own, then took lessons from the best teachers I could find in Lubbock. Finally started teaching some classes myself. I have been teaching about 20 years. Had worked up my classes and workshops until I was pretty busy at it. When my heart problem got worse, my cardiologist put a stop to it except for one class a week. Painting is one thing I can still do even though my activities are very limited.
