A pronoun is a word which takes the place of a noun.
Speaking and writing are made easier with pronouns.

Instead of saying, "John put on John's coat", we can substitute a pronoun
for the word "John's" and say, "John put on his coat".

You can say, "Frank and Joe play ball", or you can say, "They play ball".

Instead of , "Mother wants Mother's children to eat lunch", we can
substitute a pronoun for the word "Mother's" and say, "Mother wants
her children to eat lunch".
