Stone Fox, Grades 3-4
By Sonia Landes / Educators Publishing Service
Based on award-winning children's books, BookWise literature guides encourage students to read closely and think analytically about the character, themes, and events of the book. Teachers are encouraged to personalize the guide by selecting the parts they consider most useful for their students. The first section of the guide, Reading the Book, features: reproducible student vocabulary exercises teaching challenging words selected from each chapter; class discussion questions; writing topics to challenge students' creative thinking; and creative, often hands-on activities. The second section, Responding to the Book, includes: reproducible exercise pages that encourage students to explore the author's use of elements such as setting, character, and plot; more writing topics; and a list with synopses of other children's books that have themes similar to those in the book. This literature guide for Stone Fox is appropriate for grades 3-4.
