These studies of Famous Paintings
were written on an elementary level, but will be of interest to all ages.
They will help students become familiar with
and learn to appreciate the works of famous artists.
Teachers, for each lesson you will find a biography of the artist,
a study sheet, a worksheet, a greyscale print of the picture,
a jigsaw puzzle, a printable and online crossword puzzle, word search, and word scramble,
links for further research, and links to art lessons for many of the artists.
There are posters, books, and videos you can order.

SUGGESTIONS for using the ART LESSONS

Read the story about the artist and the painting.
Study the view of the featured painting.
Study other pictures by the same artist on the page and in the slideshow
Explore the links in the box.
Look at the books in the Library.
Print the study sheet, worksheet and/or multiple-choice test. Answer the questions.
Work the jigsaw puzzle.
Print and work the crossword puzzle, word find, and word scramble.
Choose an online crossword puzzle, word find, memory puzzle, or word scramble to work
Take the online multiple-choice test.
Print and color the picture and/or color it online.
Save your lesson pages and make a book of Famous Artists at the end of the school year.
