The Silver Dart aircraft

After experimenting with manned kites Bell tried building an airplane with two wings, one on top of the other; the biplane. Sometimes the planes crashed, but they were able to walk away from them. The most successful was the June Bug which won a competition and flew 150 times without crashing.

Selfridge would become the first person to be killed in a plane crash when he was riding as a passenger in a plane flown by Orville Wright.

The Silver Dart was the last plane the association made. It was built after the death of Selfridge.
